I often get requests from journalists and other researches for recommendation on ex-members they could interview.
As you will see from my web page, many vocal ex-members are disgruntled members. While I don't want to dismiss what they have to say because it also represents an aspect of the reality, I can not recommend them as a source of reliable information.
I would recommend the ex-members I listed on my moderate ex-members web page. However, this information is a bit outdated now and I am not sure their e-mail address is still up-to-date.
At the time, I compiled this sample list from my participation in the alt.relgion.scientology newsgroup. Because I was an active participant over a long period of time, I could determine their standing with quite some precision. This is no longer the case, as I am not following up this newsgroup anymore.
Because of the interest in this question, and because it would constitute a useful resource, I would like to build up and maintain such a list again. I am looking into ways I could do this and how I could provide this services for researchers. In the meantime, however, I am sorry to say that all I can offer is the page referred to above, with the restrictions mentioned.
As for myself, I can answer questions through e-mail only.
If you happen to find a good source yourself, please let me know. This way we may be able to build an up-to-date list again.
