The French anti-cult law, passed by the French House on May 30, 2001, creates a new category of crime (mental manipulation, now cosmetically disguised as an amendment of a pre-existing section of the criminal code) and would allow courts to close down associations when one of its de facto leader has been declared guilty of a relatively minor offence.
